The Best Vegan DIY Face Mask Recipes for Hangover Skin

Try as we might, we just cannot seem to avoid hangovers. Those few extra drinks always seem like such a great idea at the time *sigh*. The second you wake up, it hits you like a ton of bricks. Suddenly you have to pull your life together and try to function like a normal human being without gagging! The symptoms are endless. Nausea, headaches, sensitive hearing, etc. But, the side effect we hate most has to be hangover skin.

Suddenly your skin is dry and congested. You look like you’ve aged about 10 years and we are so not about that life! You can try to mask it with your best makeup, but even that sits terribly on your skin. No, no. Our quick fix of choice that always works is whipping up a DIY face mask along with your hangover cure-all smoothie. Here are some of our favorite vegan DIY face mask recipes for hangover skin!

When You Need Cooling

Hangover skin has many needs. Everyone’s skin responds to drinking differently. If your skin feels tight and dry, this is the mask for you.

Cucumber Mask

1 Cucumber

1 tbsp Lemon Juice

3 Mint Leaves

Start by squeezing out your tbsp of lemon juice before you get to the real work. Now, grab your cucumber and cut slices. Place the slices under your eyelids to help wake you up while you make the mask!

Grate the rest of the cucumber and add it to the lemon juice before crushing your mint leaves and throwing them in, too. The fragrance of this alone will leave you feeling refreshed! Apply for 15 minutes and rinse off to reveal soft and cooled skin.

When You Need Brightening

Sometimes you wake up and find your skin looking and feeling even patchier and discolored than usual. The dryness and congestion caused by drinking can emphasize dark areas and dullness on your skin that we’d prefer to avoid. Here’s a brightening face mask that also deeply hydrates and cleanses your tired skin.

Cocoa Mask

(Equal parts of all ingredients)

Cacao Powder

Ground Coffee Beans

Ground Oats

Splash of Coconut Milk

Mix all of your dry ingredients together to create a brown powder. Then gradually add in the milk until you get the consistency you want, which is a thick paste like most masks. Massage this into your skin as you apply it to really activate the ingredients.

Once it’s on, leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off. The ingredients used here work to drastically brighten your skin tone and give it an extra glow! Not only will it reverse the hangover effects, it will leave your skin glowing.

When You Already Had Troubled Skin

Hangover skin can be rough for everyone, but it especially takes a toll on already troubled skin. If you generally suffer with acne or discolored skin, then a hangover is only going to emphasize that. This simple mask helps combat and soothe your skin’s trouble areas.

Smoothie Mask

1 Banana

1 Handful of Strawberries

1/2 Fresh Lemon

Once you’ve really deeply washed all of your fruits, this mask is the easiest to make! Simply squeeze your fresh lemon into a blender and then toss in the chopped fruits and blend! That really is all it takes. You can even make double to have a glass to drink as an antioxidant smoothie.

The lemon juice and banana in this work to combat acne and darkness in your skin. The strawberry contains salicylic acid which allows it to directly tackle breakouts. This mask is really amazing all year round if you generally suffer with pimples.

No matter your drinking habits this winter, these masks will keep you glowing and refreshed until spring.
