8 Eco-Friendly Swimwear Brands to Enjoy a Great Summer

Summer is here, which means that swimsuit season is upon us! If YOU want to renew your swimwear options this year, here are several brands that are known for their eco-friendly
practices and environmental awareness.

These brands have earned a place in our hearts because they defend the marine ecosystem, work with sustainable conditions, help to preserve species, and take care of the sea. In addition, these designs are made to be classic and glamorous!

Manakai

Manakai is a renowned Hawaiian brand, known for their sustainable swimwear. Its name comes from the union of the words “mana” which means spirit, and “kai” which means ocean. The brand aims to give women the power to highlight their beauty while also honoring the sea. All pieces are made from regenerated nylon (which is different from recycled polyester) that comes from sources such as old fishing nets, yarn, and industrial plastic waste, instead of plastic bottles.

Mymarini

This brand was created by former surfer Mareen Burke. It is aimed at the conscious consumer, who loves and respects the planet and the sea. The company manufactures in Europe and their suppliers work under sustainability parameters that save water and energy for the ecosystem.

Now Then

The company was founded by designer Andrea Salinas, and all the pieces in the collections are from materials made with plastics and fishnets found on the coasts.

Patagonia

A fantastic brand that creates surfer clothing with recycled nylon. The reversible swimsuits are simply the best. All of Patagonia’s designs are fair trade-certified; by going to their website, users can see all the factories that manufacture the pieces, including details about labor practices, waste management, and chemical recycling.

Gypsy05

Gypsy is an environmentally-aware, contemporary company dedicated to counterbalancing their carbon footprint. Their pieces incorporate organic fabrics and their headquarters have the first totally solar-powered dyeing, printing, and manufacturing facility in Los Angeles.

Vitamin A

This fashionable brand from Southern California has an A-List clientele that includes Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson. The company’s goal is to reduce its environmental footprint and they do it by using EcoLux – a superfine fabric manufactured from recycled nylon and Lycra Xtra Life fiber. Bonus, all the patterns are printed using a waterless method.
