9 Beach Vacation Essentials

It’s finally summer! If you’re like us, summer means planning trips to the beach for some fun in the sun. To maximize your fun levels and stay healthy in the sun, be sure to pack these beach vacation essentials. Don’t leave for vacay without them!

  1. A one-piece swimsuit

A bikini is great for laying out, but if you have any intention of swimming in the ocean, you should really consider wearing a one-piece swimsuit. You do NOT want to lose your bikini bottoms in the surf, especially if you’re on a crowded beach (trust us – been there!). Luckily, one-piece swimsuits are a huge trend right now, so you can stay covered while still being trendy.

  1. A cooler bag

Cooler bags are pretty much the greatest invention ever. They look like a regular tote bag, but are insulated and waterproof like coolers. They just make it SO much easier to haul your snacks and drinks across the sand. No more hauling a bulky cooler in the hot sun!

  1. Spray sunscreen

Can we all agree that rubbing on lotion sunscreen at the beach is pretty much the worst thing ever? The combination of slimy lotion and scratchy sand is enough to make anyone want to avoid the beach. But sunscreen application is super important for preventing sunburns, so what’s a girl to do? Enter spray sunscreen! We recommend using a lotion sunscreen 30 minutes before hitting the beach for optimum coverage, then reapplying every hour with a spray sunscreen.

  1. Pool Slide Sandals

Flip flops are the worst on the beach – they just flip flop hot sand right onto your bum! Pool slides are a great alternative to protect your feet without getting sand in your pants. They’re also a huge trend right now, though we recommend avoiding pool slides made with easily soiled materials like faux fur and velvet.

  1. Wide-Mouth Water Bottle

Wide-mouth water bottles are great because you can fill them with ice cubes and little bit of water. As the ice cubes melt, you have cold, refreshing water to drink. Plus, they’re also great for making cocktails (if you’re into that).

  1. An Eye Mask

If you want to take a nap in the sun, sunglasses just aren’t going to cut it. It’s too bright! Pack an inexpensive eye mask in your bag for naps – just make sure you’ve applied plenty of sunscreen to your face so you don’t acquire an unfortunate eye mask tan line.

  1. A Sarape

Sarapes are one of our favorite beach vacation essentials! These Mexican blankets are perfect for the beach because they’re as durable as they are colorful. They’re affordable
and you can buy them in sizes large enough to fit all your friends.

  1. A Bluetooth Portable Speaker

We love listening to some groovy tunes at the beach – at an appropriate volume level, of course. Portable speakers are relatively inexpensive now, and some brands even make models that are waterproof, so you can enjoy your music out in the water as well!

  1. Leave-In Conditioner

While beachy waves are a great look, saltwater and sun can really dry out your hair. To replace the lost moisture, spray down wet hair with a lightweight leave-in conditioner.
