Wonderfully Dramatic Ways to Wear Red Eyeshadow

There are no rules when it comes to makeup. Makeup is all about artistic expression, having fun, and experimenting. With so many beauty gurus and makeup artists online, were constantly seeing them push boundaries and go beyond conventional makeup trends. We find ourselves wishing we could pull that off but never daring to try. This is never truer than when it comes to bright colors! Everyone feels safe with neutrals, and when it comes to trends like bright red, we steer clear. But why? Makeup is about fun and it’s time we had a bit of fun, too! Red eyeshadow is all the rage right now- we see it all over Instagram as well as on the runway. This trend may seem impossible to pull off IRL, but we beg to differ. We’ve put together a few ways that you can rock the red all you want without being too over the top. These wearable options are here to help you paint the town red!

Under The Eyes

When incorporating fun colors, you want to start by lightly dabbling in. Before going full red, you might want to begin by sticking to your staple neutral eyeshadow and then just adding a pop.

The easiest place for you to add this pop is under your eyes! Blending out some red eyeshadow under your eyes is a fun way to add a pop without being too wild. You can add this to a simple look or go crazy and add it to a full on smokey eye!

Line Your Eyes Red

Another not-so-scary way to play with red is simply to switch out your typical black liner. Especially in the summer, colorful eyeliner is a gorgeous way to add some brightness to your look.
Spray a liner brush with any setting spray or even some water and then dip it into your red eyeshadow of choice. Use a sticker to avoid getting too messy, then place the sticker from the outer corner of your eyes to your eyebrows. Line your lid and pull off the sticker to reveal a seamless red flick!

Red Smokey

Smokey eyes are always fun ways to add some color. All you have to do is achieve a simple smokey eye as dark or light as you’d like. Once you’re done, you simply take your bold color and blend it on top.
With this method, you won’t be left with bright red eyes. You’ll just give your smokey eye a red undertone!

Go Bright or Go Home!

If you’re not here for the easy way out, we’ve got you covered too. Why beat around the bush? Just get crazy creative and throw a bright bright red eyeshadow all across your lid.
Work with gradients of red. Apply the darker red to the outer and inner edges of your lid, and leave the center blank. Then blend a lighter red into your crease. Finally, pack on that bright red right into the center. This will give you a bold red halo eyeshadow look that’s guaranteed to turn heads.
We hope you’re not afraid to try a red makeup look any longer! Dare to be bold!
