Another Stressful Morning? These Self-Care Rituals Make Even The Busiest Days Better

There is nothing I hate more than a busy and stressful morning. Ironically, that’s what most of my mornings look like. But that’s not too much of a surprise considering the era we live in. Everything is fast, from food to fashion, and for most of us – it’s a bit difficult to keep up. But who says that you can’t implement a few self-care rituals, even in the busiest of mornings? These small changes can help you get your head in the right place, and feel more centered, focused, and ready to take on the day. Here are some of my favorite quick self-care rituals for busy mornings.

Meditation

I know what you’ll say: Who has the time to meditate when you’re already running late for work? However, I’m not suggesting doing a 40 minutes guided meditation class. Just lay in bed for five minutes trying to clear your thoughts, but make sure not to doze off. Meditation is a powerful self-care tool that can help to reduce stress, improve focus, and increase overall well-being. Even just a few minutes of meditation each morning can make a big difference in how you approach your day.

As insignificant as it may seem at first, these five extra minutes can help you reduce stress, anxiety, and prevent burnout. If you don’t want to risk falling asleep, you can also find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed, sit comfortably, and close your eyes. Focus on your breath, and try to let go of any thoughts that come up. Set an alarm for five to ten minutes to make sure you’ll still get to work on time.

Skincare

Even in the busiest of mornings, you will still do your skincare routine, right? Taking care of your skin is an important part of self-care. It helps us feel refreshed, and confident, and it also allows us to take a few minutes to truly appreciate our faces. But by adding a few extra steps into your skincare routine, you transform it into a spa-like self-care ritual. All you have to do is put on some relaxing music or positive affirmations, burn a scented candle, and put on a comfortable and soft robe.

It’s the small things in our routines that make a difference. None of these steps will take up too much time, but they will help you calm down and prepare for a busy work day. Once you get to your routine, take a few minutes to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin. Choose products that work well for your skin type, and be sure to apply SPF to protect your skin from UVB and UVA rays.

Gratitude practice

Last but not least – practicing gratitude. This is something you can implement in almost any part of your morning routine. From making your coffee, applying your makeup, or taking a warm shower – there is just so much that we can feel grateful for. As cheesy as it sounds, practicing gratitude can help you shift your mindset from one of stress and anxiety to complete bliss and positivity. I know that it can feel a bit fake at first, but start small. Say a little thank you to your coffee machine while you’re getting your daily dose of caffeine, or take a moment to appreciate the nice weather.
